Safety is the pillar
on which everything rests.
The health and safety of our employees always come first — both inside and outside the company. That’s why we work every day to raise awareness and train people on every specific aspect of the sector they work in, from technical to regulatory matters, so that everyone is always clear on the rules and procedures to follow. These are intimate and detailed sessions of no more than thirty or forty people, held both with operational staff and with technicians, to give every detail the importance it deserves.
For new hires, there is a training period in which they are paired with more experienced staff. Over time, we also monitor their training status, ensuring they are always up to date on the directives to follow when working on construction sites.
Training also takes place directly on site: our own staff provide it to ensure that everything is carried out safely. For example, we remind workers how to safely dismount from vehicles, to activate warning lights and to always appoint a team safety supervisor with the mandatory flagger. We also make sure that the signage indicating roadworks is not too short but complies with the legally required distances.
We check that everyone behaves appropriately. If not, we take the necessary measures. When it comes to safety, there is zero tolerance.
We have extended this awareness project to those who travel on the roads every day, to instill greater awareness of the importance of respecting motorway signage.
To protect our workers on construction sites, we have introduced new chin-strap helmets directly connected to the visors, preventing external elements such as bolts or stones from hitting their faces. And for workers involved in environmental remediation, especially asbestos, we provide suitable clothing and strictly certified equipment. We also subject them to periodic specialist medical examinations.
We have equipped our vehicles with front and rear cameras to more accurately monitor work and prevent accidents, with the utmost respect for workers’ privacy. We have also increased lighting points and signal lights to make workers more visible on the road, especially in low-visibility conditions. Each of them wears a special protective vest fitted with flashing lights that activate in unison for the whole team.
These and many other actions are what we put in place every day to safeguard people’s health. When it comes to safety, we never hit the brakes.
